In 1821, Prince Achille Murat, son of Napoleon's sister, Caroline, and her husband, the king of Naples, came to Jefferson County, Florida. There he married the lovely young widow, Catherine Willis Gray, who was a niece of George Washington. They lived near Tallahassee at intervals for the remainder of their lives.
