| The oldest lighthouse location in the country, on Little Brewster Island, has welcomed sea-borne travelers to Boston since 1679. The first lighthouse, built in 1713, was destroyed by British Marines during the Revolution and replaced by the current structure in 1783. In 1719, Boston Light developed the world's first fog-warning signal using a cannon. |
