Boston Light, Little Brewster Island, Sunset
Additional Details:
| Since 1679 a beacon on Little Brewster Island has welcomed sea-borne travellers to Boston making this the oldest lighthouse location in the country. The first lighthouse (built in 1713), blown up by British Marines during the Revolution, was replaced with the present structure in 1783. In 1719 Boston Light developed the world's first fog-warning signal when a cannon was fired at regular intervals during heavy fog. |
