Additional Details:
Historic Axbridge was a royal borough. Early records tell of the 'Corner House of Chepynstrete.' Mariota de la Bye, with a stall on the Market Square, lived here in the 14th century. Called the 'Stochuse' it was acquired in February 1345 (Edward III) by John Oldeweye. The present gabled exterior is early Tudor with recent renovation.
