THIS DRAMATIC STATUE of one of Georgia's greatest Governors appears on the grounds of Georgia's State Capitol, modeled after the Capitol of the United States in Washington. The State Capitol stands unique among United States public buildings as it cost exactly the amount of the original and only appropriation made for it — $1,000,000.00. Several years ago the dome was gold plated with 43 oz. of gold donated by the citizens of Lumpkin County.
