Columbus Circle, Ezra Meeker's Ox Wagon, Oregon Trail
Additional Details:
| This tribute to the great discoverer and navigator, standing at the intersection of 59th Street and Broadway, was erected by volunteer contributions of the Italian residents in America. At this point I began to meet the crowds of Broadway that constantly increased until near the Battery, and that became so dense as to utterly preclude the possibility of taking other illustrations on the first day's drive down t.e great White Way. The beautiful par-ground of forest and foliage gives a glimpse of the famous Central Park, than which no finer pleasure-ground is found in any city. |
