Gillette Castle patterned after a Rhinish fortress, started in 1914, erected by Porteus-Walker Co. of Hartford, was designed and supervised in every detail by its builder-owner, William Gillette. Friends donations added to State funds enabled it to become a Connecticut State Park. View of castle, showing open porch, North tower, and frog pond.
