Mount Rushmore is a solid mass of granite, 6,000 ft. above the sea level. Upon the face of this mountain, Mr. Gutzon Borglum is now carving a memorial, consisting of the figures of four presidents of the United States, chosen because of their special contribution to the expansion of the Nation. These figures will be more than 200 ft. in height, three times as large as the Sphinx of Egypt.
