The Hell Gate Bridge, the world's longest steel arch bridge, crosses Hell Gate, Ward's Island, Randall's Island, and Bronx Hills to New York. It is 1,000 feet long with 200-foot high concrete towers, costing $15,000,000. Operated by the New York Connecting Railroad, it allows through trains of the N. Y., N. H. & H. R. R. to connect with Pennsylvania R. R. for south or west travel without changing in New York.
