| The Capitol building is located on a beautiful site, 197 feet above the level of the Cumberland River. It is of Grecian architecture, constructed of fossilated limestone, hewn and chiseled from quarries around Nashville. The blocks of stone weigh from six to ten tons. The grounds include several monuments and historical markers, including a fine bronze statue of General Jackson. |
