| The Hayden Planetarium, a red brick edifice, with its 75 foot copper dome is located at the North end of the Museum grounds facing 81st Street near Central Park. It is named after Charles Hayden, who donated $150,000 Zeiss projecting instrument which reflects on the dome, the movement of the stars, the sun, the planets and numerous other interesting things that are found in the sky. The Planetarium is one of the outstanding features in the development of knowledge in New York. |
