Going Down Cedar Pass, Bad Lands Nat'l Monument

| The Bad Lands with their great fossil deposits tell a story of strange climates, strange animals of the jungles, marshes and rivers. Streams that were bringing in the Bad Land formations were furnishing playground for turtles and crocodiles. Groups of rhinoceroses moved here and there. One of the most important animals if its time was the Titanothere. It is now extinct, as also is the Oredon. Fossils of these Oredons may be seen in the School of Mines Museum at Rapid City. |
