| This is one of the finest public buildings in the city. It is situated on Main Street. The foundation is of granite and the super-structure of brick. The first floor is used for offices and the mayor and councilmanic chambers. The second floor of the main building is used for an assembly hall, with a seating capacity of about 1200. An annex, recently built in the rear, is used for offices of all others. The main building was erected in 1850. |
