Mark Twain Boyhood Home, Tom Sawyer's Fence
Additional Details:
| Built in 1844 by John Marshall Clemens, father of Mark Twain (Samuel Langhorne Clemens). When Twain wrote "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" he made this house Tom's home, and had him do the things he himself did when a boy. The fence that figured in the famous whitewashing episode is here; in the background rises Cardiff Hill, "dreamy, reposeful, and inviting." |
