M. Jacques de Lesseps, the youngest son of the engineer of the Suez Canal, in a Bleriot monoplane, crossed the English Channel, from France to England, on May 21st, 1910, and won the prize of £500 offered by M. Ruhnart, as well as the £100 cup offered by the "Daily Mail" for the second airman who should achieve this feat. Almost immediately after, namely on June 2nd, the Hon. C. S. Rolls created the record of flying from England to France and back without a stop. This remarkable flight was achieved on a biplane. The time occupied was 1 hr. 30 mins.
