| Upper Geyser Basin, a nearly level tract enclosed by low hills, with Firehole River flowing through it, contains the chief geysers of this marvelous region. The basin has an area of about four square miles, and a general elevation of 7,240 feet, and here are found forty geysers, besides many beautiful hot springs. The subterranean forces are never at rest, and the Upper Geyser Basin at all times presents a strikingly weird scene. |
