| On Nov. 18, 1788 Benjamin Stites and 26 others floated down the Ohio River in flatboats from Maysville, KY and founded the community of Columbia near the present site of Lunken Airport. Mathias Denman, a Revolution Soldier looking for cheap, fertile land, purchased what is today's downtown Cincinnati for 66 2/3 cents per acre. |
