| The hall is located on Chestnut Street, a principal thoroughfare of Philadelphia. On July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was adopted by Congress and read to the people assembled on Independence Square. The Continental Congress assembled here and Washington was chosen Commander-in-Chief in 1775. The building is now a museum of relics connected with the history of this country. |
