This impressive monument to Brigham Young and the "Mormon" Pioneers stands at the intersection of South Temple and Main Street. The monument is surmounted by a bronze statue of Brigham Young. At the sides are two ideal figures representing a frontiersman and an Indian. A bronze relief tablet on the front of the monument represents Pioneers camping at night. On the back are the names of the first company of "Mormon" pioneers who arrived in the Great Salt Lake Valley with Brigham Young, July 24, 1847. |
