| A sign at the cave entrance reads: "BOONES CAVE. Tradition relates that during the Winter of 1778 Daniel Boone made a miraculous escape from a band of Shawnee Indians entering the cave at this point and after a perilous passage through the cave emerged on top of the hill through an outlet which was unknown to the Indians." Another sign with an arrow points into the cave and reads: "CAVE ENTRANCE LEAVES HOPE BEHIND." |
