Additional Details:
Cajon Pass is often covered with snow in the winter. In the summer it can be hot and dry. For over 100 years this was the main trail to the coast, since William Wolfskill marked the Spanish Trail from Santa Fe to Los Angeles through the pass in 1831. From its summit there is a great view of the Sierra Madre Mountains, the desert and the San Bernardino Valley. Today the highway follows in part the old Spanish Trail.
