The Matchless Mine and the Tabor Triangle
Additional Details:
| The fabulous wealth which accrued to Horace A. W. Tabor was the forerunner to his separation from Augusta Tabor. His mistress, Mrs. Elizabeth Doe, familiarly known as "Baby Doe," formed the third part of the famous "Tabor Triangle" which grew into a national scandal. Augusta, beloved "first lady" of Leadville, died a millionairess at the age of 62. At the same time her former husband Horace, the "Silver King," was bankrupt. Baby Doe spent her remaining years at the Matchless Mine, a pauper and recluse. |
