The Farmers and Merchants Bank erected in 1889 by Silas Garber, the Captain Forrester in Willa Cather's A Lost Lady, housed the Willa Cather Pioneer Memorial Museum and Archives from 1961 to 1978. It is now the Willa Cather Historical Center, Nebraska State Historical Society.
