| Wenonah was the daughter of Wapasha, chief of the tribe which had a village named Keoya standing between the Great River, Gitchee Seebee, and the blue water, we call Lake Winona. Wenonah, whose name means 'first born daughter,' was so beautiful that she was often called 'wild rose of the prairie.' |
