| "Locomotion" was built to the specification of George Stephenson and constructed at the Forth Street Works, Newcastle. It was the first locomotive to be owned by a public railway and hauled the inaugural train from Shildon to Stockton on 27th September, 1825. It is now part of the National Collection and is exhibited in Darlington North Road Station Railway Museum. |
