| In 1879 the first permanent theatre in honour of William Shakespeare was founded on this site, only to be totally destroyed by fire in 1926. Shakespeare lovers from all over the world contributed to the present theatre, which was opened in 1932. Theatre-goers are also able to enjoy the superb view over the Avon from the outside terraces. |
