Clopton Bridge & River Avon, Stratford-upon-Avon
Additional Details:
| Almost five centuries old this fine stone bridge was built by Hugh Clopton, a native of Stratford, who later became Lord Mayor of London. It still carries all motor traffic over the Avon, although nearby is a brick footbridge, a relic of a nineteenth century railway project. At the foot of Clopton bridge, lie the Bancroft Gardens, an old canal-basin, and the Gower memorial. |
