| The Wawa Goose, from a hillside at the famous year round vacationland at Wawa Ontario, overlooks Trans Canada Highway 17, Canadian section of the Lake Superior Route, which encircles the largest fresh water lake in the world. This all steel replica, 30 ft. high and weighing 2 ton, was erected in 1960 to commemorate the Highway's opening. Wawa, Ojibway Indian word for 'Wild Goose' is a busy fly-way for migratory geese. |
