Highway One Pacific Coastline, California
Additional Details:
| Highway one follows the shore of the Pacific Ocean. In 1879 young Dr. Roberts tended the sick south of Monterey. He made the trip, on foot, from Monterey to San Luis Obispo, sketching and planning the road in which he spent years to arouse interest. He estimated that $50,000 would build the road. With help of Senator Rigdon, the road was completed in January of 1937 at a cost of $10,000,000 along with the lives of men and equipment that was lost to the sea. |
