Lord Buddha's Relics Container, Asakusa-ji Temple

| An ornate golden ceiling decoration featuring an openworked silver and gold ball, which houses a golden miniature stupa containing Lord Buddha's Relics. The relics were presented to this temple by the Royal Temple, Isurumunia Maha Vihara, in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. The ball hangs from the blue-painted ceiling of the Five-Storied Pagoda's top floor and symbolizes the center of the universe. |
