Additional Details:
This gate was dedicated to the temple in 1618 by Tokugawa Hidetada, the second shogun of the Tokugawa Shogunate (feudal government), and is designated one of the nation's important cultural properties. The 300-year-old statues flanking the gate are Zochoten (Virudhaka) and Jikokuten (Dhritarashtra), two of the four major guardians of the Buddhist temples.
