Tom Moore's Tree, Meeting of the Waters, Avoca, Co. Wicklow
Additional Details:
| About 3 miles north of Avoca Village the Avoca River is formed by the "Meeting of the Waters" of the Avonmore and Avonbeg rivers which mingle in a setting of sylvan beauty. Nearby may be seen the stark skeleton of Tom Moore's Tree now bereft of all foliage and where the poet is said to have spent long hours resting beneath its then luxuriant boughs. Avoca is a convenient centre for visiting Glendalough, Glenmalure, Lough Tay, Lough Dan and other beauty spots. |
