Trinity College, Campanile, Front Square, Dublin
Additional Details:
| The Campanile shown in this picture houses the great bell of the College. Built in 1853, it also contains the smaller “Provosts Bell” which may have hung in the monastery of All Hallows, the site of Trinity College. The great bell is rung before each examination and for Commence-ments, the degree conferring ceremony. The smaller bell is rung to summon students and Fellows to Chapel on Sunday morning. It rings three times when the Provost crosses the Front Square. |
