Waterloo - The Lion

| A mound erected in 1825-6 with soil taken from the crest of the tragic ditch of Ohain, where the magnificent charge of the French Cavalry broke down. This mound, 50 metres in height, supports a cast-iron lion measuring 4.50 metres and weighing 18,000 kilograms. This monument was erected at the spot where the Prince of Orange was wounded, whilst leading the Dutch-Belgian troops. |
