The Venetian mosaic, representing the Fruits of the Spirit, was put up to the memory of Major-General William Earle, Grenadier Guards, who was killed while commanding the troops at Kirbekan in the Soudan, 1885. The columns and reveals of the lancer windows above commemorate General Sir Frederick Stephenson (1821-1911) Colonel of the Coldstream Guards.
