This landmark hotel, La Posada, was the last of several Harvey Houses, designed by Southwestern architect Mary Colter. It incorporated motifs and styles reflecting Indian and Spanish heritage. Built in 1929 and opened in 1930 with 74 rooms, it hosted many Santa Fe passenger trains daily. The building faces the Santa Fe tracks, with gardens and fountains. After closing in 1957 and being converted to division headquarters, local citizens began its restoration in 1993, returning it to its original grandeur. It is listed on the National Historic Register. The card also features a map of Route 66. |
