The Mesa and Old Walpi Hopi Village, Tusayan Valley
Additional Details:
| One of the quaintest of the ancient Hopi villages. The mesa rises 512 feet above the surrounding valley of Tusayan. Here lives one of the best known tribes of southwestern Indians, the Hopi or "peaceful people". They are very industrious farmers and craftsmen, wresting a living from their barren lands. Walpi is the scene of the weird Snake Dance ceremony on alternating years. |
