| Built in 1818-1819. Situated on Derby St., opposite Derby Wharf which was one of the largest and most important wharves in Salems greatest prosperity. Here Nathaniel Hawthorne was Surveyor of Customs & there still may be seen the stencil used by him to mark inspected goods. Open to visitors, 9 A. M. to 3 P. M. Saturday excepted when it closes at 12 noon. Not open Holidays or Sundays. |
