| Wagons of the famous 20-Mule Team Borax Trains stand on public display at Death Valley's Furnace Creek Ranch. Following the discovery of borax in Death Valley in 1881, these ore wagons were used to haul borax from the Death Valley Harmony Borax Works to Mojave 165 miles away. Two ore wagons and a tank wagon pulled by 20 mules made the 20-day trip carrying over 36 tons of borax. |
