Additional Details:
The VC-118A, military version of the Douglas DC-6, was used as Air Force One for short trips and airports unable to handle larger jet aircraft. President John F. Kennedy made his first official flight aboard this aircraft on September 24th, 1961 to address the United Nations. President Lyndon Johnson used this airplane extensively in 1964 during his campaign for the Presidency in his own right. On loan to Pima Air Museum, Air Force One is on permanent display.
