Additional Details:
Baton Rouge is the capital of Louisiana. The old state capitol, destroyed by fire during the Civil War, was rebuilt 1880-1882 and is a museum today. The million dollar governor's mansion has been home to many colorful and legendary figures. The State Capitol, 34 stories high, is the tallest in the nation. Built during the depression, it was the dream of Gov. Huey P. Long. He was assassinated here and lies buried on the grounds.
