Nottoway Plantation, Largest Antebellum Home, White Castle
Additional Details:
| The South's largest antebellum plantation home was designed with a blend of Greek Revival and Italianate architecture. It was built by John Hampden Randolph of Virginia and named after a county in that state. This mansion presents an image more in keeping with the villas of Europe than the columned facades of the river plantations. Scrolled designs of cast-iron decorate the front and side galleries. |
