Blessing of the Shrimp Fleet, Decorated Boats

| At the beginning of the shrimping season, all of the boats in the fleet are decorated with many colored flags, balloons and paintings for the festive occasion of the blessing. On a Sunday morning, all of the boats in each area get together in a long parade which passes in front of a boat where a bishop or priest blesses each one as it passes, for good luck and safe keeping. |
