| Shadows-on-the-Teche is a property of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. It is a stately house, authentically restored and furnished with elegant antiques of the period. The outside staircase is screened by green louvers, which are repeated at the other end of the gallery. This 1830's house is one of Louisiana's most famous homes. It fell into ruin after the Civil War, but was restored in the 1920's by Weeks Hall, the great-grandson of the builder. |
