Luther Before the Diet of Worms Refusing to Recant
Additional Details:
| The "Diet" was the German Parliament, and met at the call of the Emperor. Charles V. called this Diet in April, 1521, at Worms. Here Luther refused to recant his doctrines, "unless convinced by the word of God or clear reasons." The Diet ordered that his books be confiscated everywhere and burned, and forbade the preaching of his doctrines. |
