The Floodlit Military Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle
Additional Details:
| Colourful and spectacular floodlit military tattoos are outstandingly popular features of the annual Edinburgh Festival. They take place on the Esplanade, behind which is the drawbridge and then the magnificent half-moon bastion built in 1574 by the Regent Morton. Many less pleasant spectacles were witnessed on the Esplanade in bygone days as this site then used for public executions and for the burning of witches. The first of the Annual Edinburgh International Festivals took place in 1947. |
