| On September 29, 1877, the Nez Perce camped on Snake Creek, near the Bear Paw Mountains. Tired, hungry, cold and only forty miles from Canada, they stopped to rest. The next day the U.S. Army attacked the camp. After a five day siege the Nez Perce surrendered. |
