The Chapel of Notre-Dame de Béhuard is built on a rocky mass, a geological remnant of the Armorican massif. An oratory was first erected here in the 5th century by Saint Maurille, Bishop of Angers. For a thousand years, boatmen and river dwellers prayed here. In the 15th century, King Louis XI built the current chapel.
