Additional Details:
| St. Mary's Cathedral has a long history in San Francisco, its predecessor going back to 1854. The second cathedral of the Archdiocese was dedicated in 1891, survived the 1906 earthquake, only to be destroyed by fire in 1963. This third, strikingly modern cathedral was completed in 1971 and spans two city blocks between Geary and Ellis Streets. |
