Folsom's Historic Powerhouse
Additional Details:
| Built in 1895 providing power for Sacramento until 1952, at which time the Folsom Dam was completed and made vast quantities of power available. When the old powerhouse came on line July 13, 1895, the Grand Carnival of Lights was triggered in the Capital. A dream of Horacio Livermore, an industrialist, was to eventually harness the Wild American River and make Folsom an industrial center. Ironically, the power flowed to Sacramento. |
